House Public Speaking
Today, several members of dicker were able to push themselves and speak in front of the rest of the house, in order to gain public speaking skills, and present a subject they find interesting, which is no easy feat in front of 80 of your peers.
Dominic Heater started the house meeting with his talk on north Korea, which was his topic for EPQ. Dom told the rest of the house with confidence the differences between our cultures.
Next, Owen Wellham publicly interviewed Callum Verity about his scootering, for which Callum is in the top 20 in the country for his age range, a truly impressive feat.
Alex Searle was also interviewed (This time by Ed Hands), about his role and ambitions for the army. Through Ed's expertly directed questions, we found out a little more about Alex's role in the cadets, and his thoughts on getting deployed in the army, which was a truly interesting insight.
Finally, the talks finished with Mr Whitaker talking to us about the National parks in america, with some suprising facts such as the incredibly small percentage of people that venture away from the trails in these parks. This coupled with the incredible pictures from his trips, made for a fantastic talk.
Congratulations to all those who publicly spoke so well!
